Palos Verdes Art Center
Palos Verdes Art Center, located in Los Angeles, CA, is an art center that provides classes for all ages. It is located in the former home of the Palos Verdes Library, which opened in 1931. The library was used by many local schools and became popular to use as a study hall at night because it was free.
The library also had a popular art collection that was donated to the center. It was named after the arts patrons that helped fund the project, including Willbur D. Munn, who is known for being an early investor in Northrup Aircraft and Lockheed Corporation.
Palos Verdes Art Center Classes
Every class offered at Palos Verdes Art Center has said to be unique.
These classes run from a wide variety of topics, including painting, art history, and many different types of photography. Some participants have even stated that after taking these classes away for a week or more, they feel as if they have become more creative or inspired to be back in the classroom.
The classes offered at Palos Verdes Art Center also continue to keep artists and students up to date with the latest trends in their field.
Every Saturday, Palos Verdes Art Center provides a program for children called "Creative Kids," where they make art inspired by many different mediums like ceramics, painting, drawing, and more. These classes are run by professional artists that have been trained to help kids learn how to be creative at a young age.
Palos Verdes Art Center also has opportunities for the community to participate, where they can come in to enjoy art classes with friends or even become a participant.
Palos Verdes Art Center Facilities
The Palos Verdes Art Center is located in the former Palos Verdes Public Library, which was built in 1931. The building has high rooflines and is made of concrete walls with no windows on any of the edges or corners. The inside of the building includes a large community space that can be used by people attending classes at the center.
The classrooms are located on the south side of the building, which contains three large rooms that can be used for classes on painting or drawing. The art center also includes two galleries on the north side that are used for events and exhibits.
The Palos Verdes Art Center is known to have high-quality facilities, but this makes it hard for the center to have room for any expansion or renovation of its current services.
The Palos Verdes Library opened in 1931, which was located on Via Monserate Avenue inside of a Spanish-style building that is now known as the Palos Verdes Art Center. The library also had its own movable bookmobile.
The original library was used by the students in many local schools and became popular to use at night because it was free, and the building also had a large art collection that was donated to the center. The books from the collection were later moved to Peninsula Library.
